When you adopt a pet from a rescue that uses Fi, the tracker is already activated. You do not need to create a pet profile or activate it yourself. When you accept the transfer, the pet profile and tracker appear in your Fi app. You then add billing details to start a free 6-month membership.
Your 6-month membership is prepaid through your rescue, so the total due at activation is $0.00. After the free 6 months, your membership renews at $189.00 for 12 months. You can change or cancel your membership in your Fi account.
Whether you are new to Fi or already a member, you can accept your adoption transfer using the steps below.

New Member Transfer Flow
If you are brand new to Fi and do not have a profile set up, we recommend starting here.
| Important: Use the same email address and phone number you gave the rescue. Fi uses them to verify your account and to send future alerts. |
To accept your transfer:

Tap the link in the text message from the rescue, then download the Fi app:

Open the app and tap Continue:
- Review the Terms of Service, then tap Accept and Continue.
- Enter your email address, create a password, and add your name.

Enter your phone number, then tap Continue:

Enter the verification code from the text message, then tap Next:

When account setup is complete, a screen confirms the adoption. Tap Activate to continue:

Enter your billing details to finish activation. Billing details are required to complete the transfer. Once you add your details, tap Save or select Apple Pay.
9. After activation, we recommend that you customize notifications for your new pet in the Manage Device Alerts section of the Fi App.
Existing Member Transfer Flow
If you already have a Fi account, the adoption transfer adds the new pet profile to your Fi app.

To accept your transfer:
- After closing your Fi App, tap the link in the adoption text message you received.

Once your Fi App reopens, you'll see the page below that confirms the adoption. From here, tap Activate:

Enter your billing details to finish activation. Billing details are required to complete the transfer. Once you add your details, tap Save or select Apple Pay.
- After activation, we recommend that you customize notifications for your new pet in the Manage Device Alerts section of the Fi App.
Attaching Your Fi Mini
Once the transfer is complete, follow the steps below to properly attach your Fi Mini.
To attach your Fi Mini:
- Place your soft case on your collar, band, or harness.
- Then, add your Fi Mini tracker into the soft case.
- We recommend positioning the Fi logo facing forward and right side up for the best tracking experience.
- We ask that you align the logos on the tracker and the soft case for the most secure fit.
