When you are your pet are on the go outside of a safe zone, the Fi tracker establishes a Bluetooth connection with the Fi App via your mobile device. If this Bluetooth connection is broken or lost, the Tracker will attempt to connect to GPS/LTE to determine a current location. If the Fi App doesn't recognize the current location as a Safe Zone, you’ll receive a notification that "Your pet is NEAR address of current location". This is to alert you when your pet is outside of a Safe Zone.
If you receive this alert when your pet is off-leash and out of your line of sight, we recommend turning on Lost Mode. To learn how to turn on Lost Mode, click here.
This is a different alert than "Your pet is AT address of Safe Zone", in which the Fi App recognizes the current address as one of your Safe Zones.
Common "Your Pet is NEAR..." Notification Causes

If your pet moves far away from you (out of Bluetooth range) while the Fi Tracker is connected to your mobile device, the Bluetooth connection will break, causing the Tracker to switch to GPS/LTE connection and send a Location Update.

For example, this can happen at places such as a dog park while your dog is playing further away from you and your mobile device.
- If you frequently visit a location, such as a dog park, we recommend making your dog park a Safe Zone to prevent these alerts. To learn more about setting up Safe Zone, click here.

- If you are outside a Safe Zone and force close the Fi App, the Bluetooth connection between the Fi Tracker and the Fi App will break, causing the Tracker to switch to GPS/LTE connection and send a Location Update.
- If you are outside a Safe Zone and turn off Bluetooth on your mobile device, The Fi Tracker will switch to GPS/LTE connection and send a Location Update.
Depending on your settings, you will receive a notification once your mobile device reconnects with your pet's Tracker.
