Your Fi Tracker can obtain your pet's location from five different connection sources.
Connection Sources
- GPS/LTE: With an active membership, your Fi Tracker will power on its GPS and LTE chips to track your pet remotely.
- The Fi Base: If you have a Series 2, 3, or 3+ tracker, a Fi Base can be set up in any location with Wi-Fi, and allows you to input your pet's location.
- The Fi App: When you are with your pet, the Fi App automatically leverages your mobile's location to preserve your Fi Tracker battery life.
- Wi-Fi: Allows you to input your pet's static location. Please note that Series 1 devices cannot connect to Wi-Fi.
- Starlink (Fi Ultra and US Only): Fi Ultra Trackers feature satellite connectivity through T-Satellite with Starlink for remote areas without standard cell coverage.
Depending on your pet's location, it is important that your tracker accesses a proper connection based on your pet's activity to receive accurate data.
Indoor Tracking and Connection Best Practices
When your pet is indoors, structures such as walls and roofs can obstruct GPS signals, leading to less precise location tracking. This is why we recommend connecting to a Fi Base or Wi-Fi while indoors. Your Fi Base and Wi-Fi both provide reliable indoor tracking details and help your Fi Tracker conserve battery.
